We Hold These Truths to Be Self -Evident

These words are the first in what would become the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution. These were the first words of the Declaration of Independence that the Second Continental Congress signed, declaring independence of the colonies from England. We celebrate that independence today.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

With this remarkable Declaration of Rights, the Second Continental Congress made the Declaration of Independence the "first formal pronouncement by an organized body of people of the right to government by choice" and severed colonial ties with England. Members of the Congress adopted Thomas Jefferson's declaration on July 4, 1776, and this date became the birthday of our great nation.

This document declares that all men are endowed by our Creator with the right to Life,, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. And, it further says that these rights will be secured by government by the consent of the people. BUT whenever the government becomes DESTRUCTIVE to these , the people have the right to alter or to abolish it (meaning the GOVERNMENT) and to institute a NEW GOVERNMENT, laying the foundation on such principles (as Life Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness) and organizing its powers from the People in order to effect their safety and happiness.

I find it remarkable that this day, July 4, 2009 that Tea Party protests are being held all across this country; protesting the intrusion of the federal government into state rights, individual rights and overtaxing us. Is it now time that THE PEOPLE remove this government and institute a new government that works for the people, by the people and is once again focused on those truths that made this nation great?

Let us all become familiar with the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Why not also become familiar with the Federalist Papers. These documents give us the framework for this great nation and THESE documents are being shredded by Congress, the Senate and the Obama Administration with no thought to the American people, who have ownership in this nation. It is time to take our nation back. What will YOU DO to take it back? What price are YOU willing to pay for freedom? Freedom has not come cheaply and it certainly will not be held by laying on the sofa and watching television while someone else does it for you. You will pay a price, you will lose it or you will fight for it. Today is the day to make your choice.
